Safeguarding: Key Issue Updates: Responding effectively to the two fastest growing areas of concern for DSLs

This Conference is now Closed

This masterclass will enable DSLs to fully understand changes and emerging areas of risk with relation to the two fastest growing areas of concern presenting for DSLs in Schools and colleges: Extra-familial harms (including Child Criminal Exploitation, CSE and County Lines), and growing numbers of mental health concerns in children and young people.

The masterclass will ensure DSLs are fully up to date with developments in each of these as well as understanding emerging areas of risk and the need to ensure an effective contextual safeguarding response to a range of extra familial harms. We will look at the evidence, trends and key statistics, and will explore the different ways in which schools can effectively understand and manage the risks, and how DSLs can prepare for emerging challenges in core areas, that also include the fastest growing category of safeguarding concern; mental health issues.

We will provide the key information DSLs, and school & college leaders and governors, need to know to ensure they are fully up to date with how to respond to these concerns appropriately, as part of an effective whole school/college approach.
