Education Report 2023, National Autistic Society:
- 74% of parents said their child’s school did not fully meet their needs
- Only 26% of pupils with autism feel happy at school
- 54% of pupils with autism said they do not have a quiet place to go at school
With increasing rates of diagnosis, data shows that there are over 180,000 pupils with autism in schools in England, of which 73% are in mainstream education. Despite this huge numbers of children, parents and families report that the mainstream system is failing to meet their needs. The recent SEND review highlights the challenges facing students with SEND and the need to implement urgent change in all settings.
This conference has been designed for staff in schools, nurseries and colleges who are working with children with autism and want to improve on their current practice.
