Pupil Premium not being fully used as intended

Jonathan Gullis, the new schools minister has shared concerns that the pupil premium maynot be being fully used as intended; “I’m sure there are plenty of examples in schools where that is happening well, but I do worry … that money is at times being used in other ways, in ways that the funding is not intended....I want to make sure that that money, a significant amount of funding, is used in the appropriate way.” 7.10.22 www.schoolsweek.co.uk

Is your school using the funding to really target and drive attainment, improve attendance, and help with behaviour?

The forthcoming Pupil Premium Strategy Conference 2023: Improving Outcomes for Disadvantaged Learners which is taking place virtually on Tuesday 24th January 2023 has been designed to help schools get the most out of their pupil premium funding by putting in place a robust, evidence-based pupil premium strategy. Through a series of sessions led by expert speakers and case studies demonstrating outstanding practice, you will come away with a clearer understanding of how disadvantage impacts pupils, and how you use your funding to deliver pupil premium interventions that will have an impact.

You will also leave the day with a clear understanding of your duties for reporting and the recent changes in this area, ensuring that your strategy, data and evidence for spending decisions is all ready for inspection day. With increasing pressure on school finances, ensuring that you are maximising the impact of your pupil premium funding is crucial for your overall school budget.
