The increase in mental health issues amongst children and young people is well reported, as are the impacts on their attendance and outcomes. With demand and waiting times for support for children increasing, the role of the pastoral lead in providing support has never been so important.


This brand new course has been designed and written by Sam Garner, a leading expert inpastoral care, mental health and SEN. Sam will help you to understand your legalresponsibilities for students with SEN and how this impacts the provision of pastoralcare.


This e-learning course will guide you through some of the most common mental healthissues seen in children in young people, so that you feel better prepared to understand,respond and take action. You will consider what preventative action can be taken in your school and how you can act to embed a positive approach to mental health.

WHO IS SAM GARNER?
Sam is a renowned speaker, trainer and author specialising in mentalhealth and SEN. She has been a SENCo in a large secondary school andis a qualified Cognitive Behaviour Therapist and a Child and AdolescentCounsellor. Sam also set up a company providing mental health CBTprogrammes for schools.
